HTC One: Let’s just start by telling you how much we love the HTC One’s overall design. Clad completely in aluminum, it’s got a premium, futuristic look and feel. Its 4.7-inch full HD display has a breathtaking 468 ppi resolution – the best resolution in a smartphone till date. The phone runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with an upgraded HTC Sense UI overlay. Powered by a quad-core 1.7 GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM, you get either 32 GB of 64 GB of internal storage....

Mini versions of phones have all but gone away with only really Sony offering this type of device with, most recently, the Xperia XZ1 Compact. The HTC U11 Life isn’t quite the same deal in terms of specs but offers some of the flagship’s design and features in a mid-range handset. Tech Advisor was at a preview event to view the new phone before its announcement. We weren’t allowed hands-on time but saw the device working in a demo area. No media at all were allowed to hold the device so photographs will have to suffice for now. The Mate X comes in interstellar blue (the little of it that isn’t screen), though that’s hard to see in real life....

We’re speculating it’s for Verizon since that remains to be the only U.S. carrier to not offer the HTC flagship smartphone yet. Maybe the DLXPLUS is the HTC One variant to be offered through the carrier then. Given that the phone has garnered a lot of positive attention, we can’t imagine why Verizon wouldn’t want a piece of the action. There’s also a possibility that the DLXPLUS could in fact be the HTC Droid DNA 2 smartphone too....

That’s where an auto press comes in. These are large machines that offer the perfect amount of pressure, even coverage, as well as some level of automation to make batch production easier and quicker. Most fitness bands and smartwatches not only come with a cable but also a proprietary charger connection that means you’ll run out of charge if you lose or forget the accessory. With the Galaxy Fold now available in the UK (it launched on 18 September) with an upgraded CPU, Huawei has decided it will also upgrade the CPU in the Mate which – according to CEO Richard Yu at IFA – will mean two versions of the phone will be sold. In a briefing with journalists, he said that a Mate X in the spec originally shown (using the Kirin 980 and separate 5G modem) would be sold but there would also be a second version that will have the brand-new Kirin 990 processor, a chip which Huawei officially launched at IFA 2019....

Huawei announced the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro at a flashy event in Munich last week. We were there to go hands on with both phones and they are undoubtedly beautiful, capable pieces of smartphone hardware. They should be worthy successors to last year’s Mate 20 phones. But thanks to the US trade ban on Huawei, the Mate 30 phones are not Google certified and will not ship with the Play Store or official access to Google apps and services....

The review below is of the original model, but we will attempt to get hold of a New Edition as soon as possible so we can run our benchmarks and see how much of performance improvement there is. Regardless, the New Edition costs £699 in the UK, which is considerably less than most 2020 flagship phones. And its cameras can certainly still compete with the latest and best phones, so it’s a more affordable way to get yourself a very respectable phone without paying top-end prices....

Note that the P30 was announced before Huawei was put on the US trade blocklist, and therefore will continue to have full access to Google apps, services and security updates. Price Before we dive into the specs, it’s worth noting that the P30 starts at £699/€799 and you’ll need to splash out £899/€999 for the 128GB P30 Pro so there’s a decent difference already. Varjo is bringing a neural interface to its latest VR headset. The device packs a variety of sensors to measure data from the user’s brain, eyes, heart, skin, and muscles and is intended to research how VR can augment human thinking. “Researchers and enterprise companies leveraging the combo of neurotechnology and VR opens up a host of new and rich data that will allow developers to have a greater understanding of how an individual reacts to virtual worlds and experiences in real-time,” Tristan Cotter, GM, Americas of Varjo, told Lifewire in an email interview....

Google recently announced that it would demonetize YouTube channels that primarily target young people or market themselves as “made for kids” if the content they upload is of poor quality.
